Retail Pharmacy Manager (No Weekends)

CompleteRx is hiring a Retail Pharmacy Manager to join our team at Christus Pharmacy, located inside Lowe's Signature Market in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 6pm
  • No weekends. The pharmacy is closed.

What You Will Do

Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff:

  • Supervises pharmacy personnel.
  • Recruits, promotes, disciplines, and terminates pharmacy staff.
  • Develops job descriptions, performance standards and performance goals.
  • Evaluates and counsels’ staff on their performance.
  • Prepares work schedules and monitors workload statistics; maintains an appropriate staffing level.
  • Provides for the educational needs of the pharmacy staff.
  • Acts as a positive role model, mentor, and preceptor.
  • Promotes individual professional growth.
  • Communicates with staff and promotes staff ownership in problem solving and participation in operational decision making.

Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department:

  • Comply with HIPAA.
  • Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of drugs designated as hazardous waste.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Monitors and justifies all expenses exceeding budgeted targets.
  • Administers reports, documents, payroll records, employee surveys and other required data.
  • Ensures applicable training records, current licensures, and other records required to document compliance are maintained in secure department files.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Medication Reviews and other MTM activities.
  • Identify critical business opportunities and meaningful solutions to drive growth and improve performance in your pharmacy.
  • Successfully implement those solutions by leading your team to achieve specified goals.
  • Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel. Verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Participates in the performance appraisal of pharmacy support personnel.
  • Fosters a team environment by providing orientation and training to new team members.
  • Coordinates and completes all assigned medication storage area inspections in a timely manner.
  • Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs.
  • Answer the telephone promptly identifying self and department. Directs calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Adheres to infection control protocols.
  • Document and report medication errors to direct supervisor.
  • Develop pharmaceutical knowledge of staff and students.
  • Keeps the pharmacy area neat, clean, and well-organized.

Prepare and review medication orders per physician request using appropriate techniques according to protocols, policies, and procedures.

  • Reviews prescriptions issued by the Physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy, appropriateness of medication, and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
  • Assure the appropriateness of all prescriptions, including age-related factors, before preparing or permitting the distribution of the first dose.
  • Maintain accuracy of patient profiles.
  • Prepare all medications using appropriate techniques.
  • Dispense medications in accordance with established laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Exercise skill as a team member in the management of medical emergencies.
  • Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
  • Assays medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
  • Ensure the policies and procedures related to medication distribution are followed.

Maintains competency required for current job title/position:

  • Maintains current pharmacist license. Ensures applicable CE records and licensure are maintained in department files.
  • Attends pharmacy staff meetings.
  • Attends orientation, education, and training programs.
  • Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree required.
  • Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of New Mexico.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a registered pharmacist.
  • 1-2 years of management experience.
  • Retail 340B experience preferred.
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certification required.
