This position will support pediatric patient care for Driscoll Children’s Hospital - RGV, a 119-bed facility dedicated to providing exceptional care to the children of South Texas.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the 340B Drug Pricing Program to ensure compliance, accuracy, and operational efficiency. The 340B Analyst is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the 340B Drug Pricing Program for Driscoll Children’s Hospital – RGV location, while also providing backup support for the Corpus Christi site.

Each year, Driscoll Children's sees over 150,000 patients across their hospitals, clinics and South Texas’ first free-standing pediatric emergency room. Families from South Texas and beyond come to Driscoll Children's with illnesses, injuries and even the rarest conditions.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure program compliance regarding audits with applicable federal regulations and related interpretations of the program.
- Ensure data used for pharmacy billing and decision support is accurate.
- Ensure hospital maximizes 340B program savings and efficiency.
What You Will Do
340B Auditing:
- Performs all 340B audits for assigned facility/location; assists other locations as necessary.
- Monitors state claims for compliance, prevents duplicate discount rebates and evaluates patients’ program eligibility in mixed use areas or clinics by reviewing patient medical records, insurance plans, and hospital status.
- Analyzes financial data for additional 340B program cost savings and system improvements. Evaluates and implements approved changes.
- Provides reports to document and communicate the financial impact of the program to hospital administration and other stakeholders. Builds additional reports, as appropriate, to monitor and improve 340B program compliance and performance.
- Maintains good working relationships with other hospital departments to facilitate communication. Provides data, information, and reports as needed.
- Tracks, trends, and reports pharmaceutical sales and purchases; perform statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data. Identifies root causes of adverse trends and makes recommendations to improve the program’s financial stability.
- Works with IT and Informatics to ensure data integrity for the 340B program.
- Develops a thorough understanding of the split-billing system. Maintains 340B split-billing software integrity and reviews applicable reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinates efforts with 340B Coordinator to ensure consistency.
Program Management:
- Serves as point of contact for the 340B program for assigned location.
- Ensures the HRSA 340B Database is accurate for assigned location with assistance provided to other facilities as needed
- Reviews documents and processes for daily operations and monthly financial reporting; make recommendations for updates/changes; prepares reports based on the contract pharmacy’s revenue and expenses.
- Ensures compliance with all GPO Prohibition rules and with all track and trace requirements of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act.
- Assists the 340B Coordinator with other program management responsibilities.
Pharmacy Purchasing Functions:
- Monitors and provides oversight of 340B purchasing activities and compliance with policy.
- Assists the pharmacy buyer in drug selection and procurement. Uses the split billing system to provide the buyer with the information needed to place orders using the appropriate accounts (e.g. WAC, GPO, and 340B).
- Assists the buyer with monitoring par levels to effectively balance product availability and inventory control. Assists with annual inventory.
- Functions as the backup pharmacy buyer.
- Maintains system databases to reflect changes in the drug formulary or product specifications.
Maintains competencies required for current position:
- Responsible to stay current on 340B regulatory updates and incorporating them into the program.
- Participates in orientation, education, and training programs.
- Reviews literature and other materials as assigned.
- Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements annually or as directed.
What You Will Need
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or equivalent (preferred).
- Experience working with 340B drug pricing program preferred.
- Three to five (3-5) years of pharmacy technician experience, of which a minimum one (1) year must be in a hospital setting or specialty pharmacy.
- Possess and maintain current Texas Pharmacy Technician registration.
- Possess and maintain National Pharmacy Technician certificate (CPhT).
